DRIFTFIRE

Asteroid terrain gallery

Every match drops you into a drifting asteroid field. You flick — swipe to launch your ship — through the rock, and your shots bore holes clean through it. These are the field types you can choose in Settings → Asteroids → Method.

Each type shows its default look. The Part of random set types also vary their generation settings from match to match, so they add a few of those variations.

Caves

Part of random set

Mixed rock: round blobs and long ridges, each big asteroid hollowed by a ship-sized cave you can fly inside. The default — the most varied terrain to fight through.

Dendritic

Part of random set

Branching, root-like rock full of nooks and narrow gaps to thread a flick through.

Coral field (open)

Part of random set

A field-wide coral pattern where the veins are rock and the gaps are open — winding lanes with room to fly.

Coral field (dense)

Part of random set

The coral inverted: mostly rock, its veins carved out as tight channels. Cramped — expect to drill your own shortcuts.

Slime field (open)

Part of random set

Slime-mold veins of rock with open cells between them — organic, connected lanes to weave along.

Slime field (dense)

Part of random set

The slime inverted: mostly solid rock threaded by narrow carved channels. Tight and defensive.

Continents

Part of random set

A near-solid board eaten away into large continents, with open room cleared around each hangar.

Disc (round)

Plain round blobs scattered across open space — the original look, with little terrain to hide behind.

Disc (round) asteroid field

Noise

Soft lobed blobs from warped noise. Some fields come out fairly plain and open.

Noise asteroid field

Craggy (fractal)

One jagged, craggy coastline of rock rather than separate asteroids.

Craggy (fractal) asteroid field

Solid band

A single solid slab across the middle. Bore a hole to punch through, or loop around the open ends.

Solid band asteroid field

Breakout

A regular grid of small brick-like rocks across the middle, like the wall in Breakout.

Breakout asteroid field

Samples are generated straight from the game's field generator, so they track the real thing. Seeds: 1001 (default), 2002, 3003, 4004.
